Encounter with the traditions and life of a shepherd from Rășinari, at the ASTRA Museum
This weekend, the ASTRA Museum will be the place where you can meet the traditions of Rășinari.
On Saturday and Sunday, in the pastoral thematic sector, at the homestead from Rășinari, those who will visit the museum will learn interesting things about the traditional way of life from this village from Mărginimea Sibiului.
It will be a good opportunity for visitors to explore this homestead in which the family lived, covering all their needs like: animal sheltering, storing tools, transport means, food, and drink. The household consists of a house with an enclosed porch, a sheep tallow candle workshop, a stable with two stables, a larder, and a shed. The objects on display cover both living needs and domestic activities such as animal sheltering, collecting, and storing of the harvest, candle-making, but also religious and decorative objects.
In addition to the information that visitors will receive about the life of the sheepherders from Rășinari, there will be gastronomic workshops with a pastoral theme, interactive workshops with wood craftsmen and candle making workshops using sheep tallow. The atmosphere will be enlivened by the vocal group from Rășinari and Călușerii from the same picturesque village from Mărginimea Sibiului.
Those who want to learn more about the life of transhumant sheepherders can visit the homestead from Rășinari, in the Open-Air Museum, on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29, between 10.00 and 15.00.
