ASTRA Open air museum, the homestead from Sebeșu de Jos

Beeswax candle making is a craft that is still practiced in Sebeșu de Jos. We will look upon this traditional occupation from the perspective of an ideal example of circular economy, having numerous benefits: from recycling residual matters, to transforming it into a valuable and necessary resource in various fields - beekeeping, traditional beliefs and customs, modern practices.

You are invited to discover both traditional and modern candle making techniques and to interact with skillful local people. In the homestead brought to the museum from the same locality, you can also interact with the characters of the new exhibition, who will tell you more about some particulars of the mentioned community.
